I haven't meant to be away from here for so long...I have been busy (aren't we all?). Opportunity really has become part of my daily thoughts and I have settled into the word well. I do however think this word will be challenging for me at times but I think that is the purpose.

Dan Custer on Opportunity
Every morning is a fresh beginning.
Every day is the world made new.
Today is a new day.
Today is my world made new.
I have lived all my life up to this moment, to come to this day.
This moment, this day, is as good as any moment in all eternity.
I shall make of this day, each moment of this day, a heaven on earth.
This is my day of opportunity.

Today wasn't the best of days but it was by no means was the worst. I just couldn't get things to work out right today. Not happy with the customer service that I have received thus far with my cell phone company while trying to get the phone to work as it was designed to perform. Tried a new taco seasoning mix to make tacos for dinner and it turned out way too spicy for anyone to eat. Dinner has been a disaster for the second night in a row... There is something to be said for staying true to a brand that you know and love. Good thing my kids like cereal...There was more but I won't digress into a whining entry tonight.
Not sure the impact my new word is making in my life so far this year. Today was a good day to ponder the word as I struggled to keep it all together. One of the reasons that I chose this word was because of the impact that Let Go had on my life last year. It was profound. I really wasn't ready to let go of that word...but then I realized that the lessons that I learned with One Little Word and Let Go will always be a part of me. I don't have to let go of what I learned. This year, I chose to take what I learned with LET GO and reach farther and dig deeper. I can dig deeper to see the opportunities before me each and every day, opportunities to renew my mind and to grow. To be continued...

So far, a dear friend will take a journey with SIMPLIFY and another with DANCE. A few others seem interested but are still pondering just the right word for them.
As for me, I will take the opportunity to relax for a few moments. One thing did go right today, I got my hands on the next DVD of Friday Night Lights! :)

Better Late Than Never...
Ever read a recipe and just know it will be yummy? Even before you taste it?
That is what I thought when I read this blog entry by Melanie at Pretties and Posies. I made the mistake of showing the blog entry to my kids and talking about it for days. When all was said and done, we just never seemed to have all the right ingredients to pull it off. Sadly, it has taken me until tonight to FINALLY make this recipe. It is so simple and so, so yummy! Try it and see for yourself.
By the way, take a few minutes to visit Melanie's other entries on her blog. A friend sent the recommendation my way to check out Melanie's blog and I have been reading ever since. Her blog really is quite lovely.

Opportunity -Bible Verses
I chose some scripture verses from the bible to help me grow while concentrating on the word opportunity this year. These verses are the core of why I chose this word and will be my direction in how I focus on this word throughout the year. I plan to place them in my car, on the bathroom mirror, and in other places where I my attention is directed often throughout each day. I'll ellaborate more on these verses a little more later. I am tired. We are returning to our usual routine now that everyone is back to school and it is bathtime.

One Little Word 2011
It's that time...time to link up with Ali Edwards and her One Little Word project. I've been in deep thought over this year's word for some time now. In the end, I think I picked a word that will truly help me grow this year.
My word for 2011 is OPPORTUNITY. I'll be back tomorrow with my thoughts on why I chose this word.

I would encourage you to participate at any level that you want. I think Ali would agree that there isn't a right or wrong way to go about this journey with One Little Word. There are many ways to go about focusing on your word and I do believe that since the word is personal to you, so should the approach be to how you incorporate it into your daily life this year. Ali gives some great ideas and encouragement and I recommend that you to start there and decide for yourself where it leads you. It is simply stated a year focused on personal growth in big and small ways. It is a year to reflect and to change and in the end become a better person as a result.
